Return
It took me a long time to get to even here; it was a long time ago when
I was young. I don't remember all the names, but I do remember the days,
and the names of some. I remember Barone putting his finger in hole in his
shoulder, laughing and saying, "I'm going Home!" I remember Tanguay, as he
walked that day in the March sun, he too went home, but he was not laughing
to anyone. I remember Wilson, I pulled his body into that ditch in that paddy,
the taking of the ammo he had, which we had none. I remember that December
day in the water pulling VC from that cave along the Son Tra Dong. I remember
that VC we shot that day in the river, as he tried to get away to the other
side. I remember Doc really wanted to save him, he worked very hard, he really
did, he tried, and, I remember we stood guard over the man, no man should
be alone at that time, until he died. I remember the cooking of our Ham an
Limas on a can stove over a lighted piece of C-4; and, I put it all behind
me when I was last med-evac out, it was not hard to shut that door. My last
year in the Marines I spent in a hospital, and on a crutch at the Naval Hospital
at St Albans Queens; Lord knows I tried, but one never forgets the faces,
the times, or the men, one meets in the US Marines.

Looking for someone, anyone, who knew my brother, L/Cpl Carl Robert Miller,
KIA July 28, 1968. Family has no pictures and little remaining info about
Carl's service in Vietnam. Would desperately like to hear from someone who
remembers serving with him. Only info we have is the name of a buddy who
was fighting beside him the day he was killed. That buddy sent a letter to
our Mother and his name was Eugene L. Hare, Jr. Any info or photos GREATLY
appreciated.
